| Description: | Woodward Tractor had a busy year in 2004 and is looking forward to another one this year. After several years at 3616 Big Horn Ave., the shop had outgrown the space so the Woodwards approached Fremont Motors about purchasing their facility on Blackburn Street. The move to Fremont Motors' previous location will double the work space as well as allowing Woodward Tractor to operate under one roof instead of two. With more space at a larger facility, Woodward Tractor is offering a new line of equipment they acquired in summer 2004. Link-Belt excavators and loaders manufactured in Lexington, Ky., is one of the leading manufacturers of construction equipment in the world. Link-Belt machines are easy to identify because of their distinct red and gray colors. The line has proven a good addition to the existing lines at Woodward Tractor which include Bobcat, Ingersoll Rand, Genie, Wacker and Husqvarna. Being the Bobcat distributor for the Big Horn Basin is a great asset to Woodward Tractor. Every year Bobcat introduces a new line or improvements to their existing lines. The Bobcat 430 and 435 excavators are the world's first compact excavator with "zerohouse swing" and the "Fasttrack drive system." These new features give the excavators more versatility on job sites allowing work to be finished in a faster, safer way. Along with the Bobcat and Link-Belt lines, Woodward Tractor also carries a complete line of Ingersoll Rand products, including forklifts, rollers, compactors, lite plants and air compressors. Woodward Tractor also carries Genie scissor lifts, manlifts and boomlifts with a reach of 25-60 feet. With the increased space at the Fremont building, Woodward will be adding smaller products to their inventory, including hand tools, concrete boots, gloves, T-shirts and additional items. "We plan on making Woodward Tractor a place for everyone to come and see what we have," owner Alice Woodward says. Not only does 2005 include the move to a bigger facility, it's also Woodward Tractor's 25th year in business. Woodward Tractor started in a small building in Rawlins before moving to Saratoga and then Powell. In 1997 the company moved to their location on Big Horn Avenue. Jim and Alice Woodward and Scott Rhoads are the proud owners of the company. Jim runs the sales department and oversees the entire operation. Scott manages the rental department and oversees the shop and parts departments. Alice runs the office and accounting functions. "Together we make a great team. We are looking forward to many more years in Cody," she says. |
